“My Story: Blitz” is the fictional diary of twelve year-old Edie (short for Edith) Benson, a girl from Lewisham in London. She writes about the bombings in London in 1940 and 1941. She tells you her experience of spending the night in the Anderson and the blackouts and what her parents and the other firemen and ARPs dealt with at bombed buildings, searching for survivors in the rubble. This book was gripping from the first page, I knew it was going to be good – but it sort of didn’t live up to that expectation throughout the book, unfortunately. You see, it was good at the beginning but although the blurb may sound very exciting but it isn’t too thrilling. I did like the book and the characters were quite entertaining but the three things I didn’t like were that it had a sad ending, it was a bit boring – not much action, and it was too short at just 123 pages! In spite of all that it was a good read, just not as action-packed as others from the series. It is good if you’re interested int he London bombings during World War Two
