The Saga of Darren Shan #5: Trials of Death

“I’ve been presented to the Vampire Council and they weren’t impressed. Now I must prove myself worthy of being a half-vampire. I have to face the Trials of Initiation: seventeen ways to die unless the luck of the vampires is with me. If I pass I’ll be accepted into the clan. Failure isn’t an option…”

When Darren Shan agrees to prove his worthiness to the Clan by undertaking a series of trials, he has no idea that his greatest enemy remains unseen. As the vampires focus on Darren, the vampaneze are infiltrating their mountain stronghold. Will Darren survive the trials to face the vampires’ real foe?

Title: The Saga of Darren Shan: Trials of Death

    Author: Darren Shan (Darren O’Shaughnessy)

    Publisher: Harper Collins Childrens Books

I’ve read the first four and this is the thrilling fifth book in the Saga. In which Darren has to prove himself worthy of being a half-vampire. By facing The Trials of Initiation. These trials are impossibly hard and no human could survive but a Vampire with luck, strenght and courage could survive all seventeen. If Darren is accepted he’ll be excepted into the clan and if he fails he’s carted off to The Hall of Death. Not only does Darren have to worry about his trials but also it has been revealed that the Vampaneaze, the clan of kind of vampires who are mortal enemies with the actual vampires, (confusing)! will have a war with the vampires and the vampaneaze will win! Will Darren pass all seventeen?

This is a great book filled with lots of shocks and surprises, with a cliffhanger ending

I have to admit this isn’t one of Darren’s best due to one or two chapters but I still loved it and it won’t stop me reading book 6!

My star rating out of 5 is 4.99
