  4. loved it

this was a sad yet thrilling story. Every time you put the book down you want to know what will happen next. Eva Ibbotson really knows how to write a good story. I really felt I was there witnessing all the tropical animals and at times when it seemed that there was no hope. I recommend this to young and old

Maia is a orphan, she has had no contact with family, nor does she know of any…Her parents died in a car crash. But then everything gets better, she hears from her cousins, who have two twin daughters-Beatrice and Gwendolyn! And even better, they live in the Amazon! Maia dreams for hours on end about her new life…

  7. not for me

A classic Ibbotson tale, however just lacks the heart and soul of her other books such as The Star of Kazan and One Dog and his boy.
